About Spravato®
Spravato® (esketamine) is a prescription nasal spray that is FDA-approved for adults with treatment-resistant depression or acutely suicidal patients with depression. It can either be used alone or in combination with another oral antidepressant.

What is Spravato® and How Does it Work?
Spravato® (esketamine) is the only FDA approved nasal spray for treatment resistant depression. It is a refined version of ketamine and is a controlled substance that must be administered by a licensed and trained medical provider. If two or more antidepressants have not worked for you, you may qualify for treatment with Spravato®
How does Spravato® work?
Spravato® is an NMDA receptor antagonist that acts on glutamate. By blocking receptors for glutamate, the most prevalent excitatory signaling chemical in the brain, we observe a subsequent increase in release of glutamate into the space between cells. The exact mechanism of action is unknown.

We can pull your insurance benefits to let you know what coverage you can expect for Spravato® treatment, before you decide to schedule. We can also help determine whether patient assistance can further reduce out-of-pocket costs.
Dr. Bejjani will meet with you to determine whether you are a candidate for Spravato®, and to discuss risks, benefits, and alternatives to treatment. She will create your individualized plan and answer your clinical questions.
Juan Carlos will complete the insurance approval process, enroll you in REMS monitoring, and walk through your specific instructions on how to prepare and gain the most benefit from your treatment.
You will begin your Spravato® treatment protocol. All sessions are completed here in the office with a minimum of 2 hours of clinical monitoring. You will not be permitted to drive yourself home.
We will track your symptom improvement to ensure that you are benefitting and that you qualify for ongoing maintenance treatment.
